The Children’s Museum operated within Museum Victoria from 1985 to 1997. It was Australia’s first children’s museum. It was about children, by children, for children. Central to the Children’s Museum were highly interactive, thematic, information-based exhibitions. The Children’s Museum asked what children wanted and responded clearly to their interests.
An illustrated catalogue was prepared to accompany the donation of Mary Featherston’s Children’s Museum archive to Museums Victoria in April 2020.
